This class explores the natural world through a queer lens. Whether you yourself identify as queer or not, you are invited to learn something new and queer about the plants you likely come across in your everyday life. We will take a look at some basic botany and delve into questions around plants' reproductive practices and morphology, evolutionary adaptations as well as human breeding goals. Bring your questions! If the weather allows, we will be taking a stroll through the vegetable, flower and perennial gardens of Red Wagon Plants.
Kat Consler is a compulsive gardener and enthusiastic birder. The combination of these interests results in extensive stretch breaks to see who is flying by while weeding a garden bed and binoculars that are never far out of reach. At Red Wagon Plants you can find Kat spreading beneficial insects on our crops or in the retail greenhouse discussing the best ways to trellis tomatoes.
